1.3 Invitations
Invitations are how Game Studio users gain access to a tenant they do not own. An owner or admin sends an invitation to an existing platform user by email address. The invitation appears in the invitee's pending invitations list, where they can accept or reject it. Accepting activates their membership with the assigned role.
Role Reference
| Role | Can invite | Can remove / update members | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
owner | Yes, any role | Yes, any role except themselves | Cannot be removed; must transfer ownership |
admin | Yes, moderator and viewer only | Yes, moderator and viewer only | Cannot invite, remove, or update other admins |
moderator | No | No | Read and moderation access only |
viewer | No | No | Read-only access |
The owner role cannot be assigned through an invitation. It is set when the tenant is created and can only change through an ownership transfer.
Invitation Lifetime
Invitations expire 14 days after they are sent. Once expired, an invitation no longer appears in the invitee's pending list, but the inviter can simply send a new one.
Notifications and Email
Every invitation triggers two side effects:
- Email: sent to the invitee's registered address.
- In-app notification: created for the invitee when the invitation is sent, and for the inviter when it is accepted or rejected.
Good to Know
- Invitees need an account first. Invitations can only be sent to registered platform users, so ask new teammates to sign up before you invite them.
- Ownership is handled separately. The owner role is never assigned through an invitation; use an ownership transfer instead.
- Admins are managed by the owner. Admins can manage moderators and viewers, while inviting, updating, or removing other admins is reserved for the owner.
